Description

Imagine yourself at the wheel of a massive Saracen armoured personnel carrier driving the monster over undulating rugged terrain. Enjoy the roar of the Rolls Royce engine as you drive the Ferret armoured scout car. This is an exciting half-day experience.

Your armoured vehicle drive course experience will begin with instruction on the technical details of the vehicles, method of driving and safety aspects. Next is a guided inspection when all the design features are explained. Then you get behind the wheel of the Ferret, put on the headphones and you will be in direct contact with your instructor who will be in the turret. Run through the five gears with a pre-selecter gearbox, admire the military features and swing the gun turret! The instruction will be on a specially designed off-road testing course, where you will master the gears and go up and down the hills.

When your instructor believes you are ready, you will be introduced to the mighty Saracen. The controls are similar and you’ll soon get used to the size.

At the end of the course you will be presented with a certificate which features a photo of you and an armoured vehicle.

Guidelines:

No experience is necessary although you must have a basic driver's licence.

Numbers:

While driving the vehicles you will be one on one with the instructor.

Weather:

This experience may be cancelled in heavy, continuous rain conditions and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Session Length:

This experience is available on weekends however in special circumstances - interstate travel, for example - weekday bookings will be considered. The duration of your experience will be 2.5 hours.

Extra Info:

The driving courses are subject to availability. Please give plenty of notice when booking for a particular date. The defensive driving techniques you will learn will stand you in good stead for when driving your regular car.
