Far off shore, where Sydney appears as a speck on the horizon, lies a sea mountain called Mt Woolnough, locally known as Brown’s Mountain. This underwater volcano is approximately 45km east of Botany Bay. The water depth at the mountain varies from 375m at the top to 500m at the base.

Herein lies the challenge. How do you get your bait to the denizens of the deep below? The advent of high-tech fishing lines has now made this contact possible. The equipment onboard our boat will enable you to get your lines down to where these fish roam the deepest ocean

You will be travelling out into the wide waters onboard a twin-engine 16m ocean-going power catamaran with a cruising speed of 15 knots and a high degree of stability. Our boat has enough space and equipment for a maximum of 6 fishing pairs at any one time. It is hard working with these lines with just the lead attached, let alone with a large fish on the end as well, so you will be fishing in teams. We will allocate two people to every real.

Bait up, cast your line and wait for that bite. Fish that populate this seamount include blue-eye cod, gemfish and hapuka, just to name a few.

Tea, coffee, juice and biscuits are supplied for morning tea, along with a packaged lunch.

So get away from your life at land and treat yourself to a day out deep sea fishing in the waters off Sydney. Take the challenge. The rewards can be fantastic.

Fishing trips depart from Rose Bay, NSW – approximately 5km east of the Sydney CBD.

Guidelines:

Participants must be fit and well and know of no reason why they should not be able to undertake a sea journey of this type. If you suffer from seasickness it is recommended that you consult your pharmacist about the available remedies.

Numbers:

The price quoted is for one person. You will be working in teams, with two people per reel. Our catamaran is licensed for 45 people however we operate with a minimum of eight and a maximum of 12 people fishing at any one time. Non-fishing participants are welcome at a cost of $110 per person.

Weather:

This experience is weather dependent. We only operate in optimum conditions and if the weather or ocean conditions are not favourable we will reschedule your experience for a later date.

Session Length:

This experience operates on the last Saturday of every month, subject to availability and weather conditions. Fishing trips depart at 7am and return after 3pm.

Extra Info:

Fishing equipment, bait, morning tea and a packaged lunch is provided. Your NSW fishing license is paid for by the boat. BYO drinks. Sensible service of alcohol rules apply on board.
